NewsMoby Rocks With Unnamed Band, Preps Next AlbumWhile continuing work on his next album, due in 2008, Moby has formed a rock band that is as-yet-unnamed. The group played a fundraiser in New York earlier this week and will be back on stage for more shows in June, with details to be announced. "We were 'the Little Death' until we realized that there are about five other Little Deaths out there and, as we live in a litigatious culture, we opted to avoid lawsuits and, thus, refrained from naming ourselves 'the Little Death,'" Moby says. In the meantime, Moby will play a host of DJ sets this month, beginning Saturday (May 5) at Studio B in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he will "be playing awesome old rave tracks." The DJ gigs continue in Cannes, France (May 16); Montpelier, France (May 17); Barcelona (May 18); Madrid (May 19) and back in New York (Nublu, June 15). Pryor's Widow Settles With Universal LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Richard Pryor's widow has settled a lawsuit accusing Universal Music Group of selling 11 of the comedian's recordings without authorization, a court clerk confirmed Wednesday. Pryor sued Universal two months before his death, charging the company had released the recordings without his knowledge or permission. After he died of a heart attack in December 2005, his widow, Jennifer Pryor, was allowed to take over as plaintiff. "The court took a motion to take the matter off calendar. The court was advised they had reached a settlement," said Superior Court clerk Irvin Lackey. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed and attorneys for both sides did not immediately return calls for comment. In his suit, Pryor said it was years before he learned Universal had licensed such titles as "Wizard of Comedy," "I Ain't Lied Yet" and "Are You Serious?" |
